Launch Pilot programme Idem Dito

21 November 2011

Pilot programme

In the second half of October the distributors of Quayn, LPlus, Teletoets and QMP provided training for the pilot team consisting of co-ordinators, test supporters and student assistants from the participating faculties. After that the so-called pilot programme was launched.

The pilot programme is the heart of the Idem Dito project. In the period from December 2011 to May 2012 four testing packages will be tried out in practice. The faculties of Medical Sciences, Arts and Economics and Business will transfer existing and new tests to each of the selected systems and will use these to administer (trial) test takes with students.

Lecturers will be involved in making and editing test items and assessing and grading open questions and essays. Test specialists will give advice on putting together item banks and (re-)using items from these. They will also examine the packages on functions specific to item and testanalysis and features on setting the final scores. Technologists will investigate how the different packages can be used together with the study registration system Progress and the virtual learning environment Nestor (Blackboard).

The pilot programme has been prepared in such a way that at the end of the programme a well-founded proposal can be drafted about the package that is most suitable for the University of Groningen and the way in which this may best be integrated in the university organisation.

Preliminary planning of pilots

The faculties of Medical Sciences, Arts and Economics and Business have selected a number of tests from the existing curricula which will be used in the pilots as trial tests for students or practice tests for lecturers. The following pilots are currently in preparation: the tests are imported into the testing systems, instruction materials are prepared and criteria for evaluation are determined.

Participating in the pilots

The pilots aim to involve future users as much as possible in the selection of a digital testing system for the University of Groningen. The above-mentioned teacher pilots introduce teachers to the possibilities of the different systems and are open to teachers from the whole university.

Next phase

After conclusion of the above-mentioned pilots, a new round of pilots will be started in the spring of 2012. More details about this will be released from January 2012 through this web site and through the faculty contacts for the project.

If you are interested in the possibilities of digital testing, do not hesitate to make this known to your faculty contact!
