Coordination with the professional field

Universities are asked to offer academic programs that, through their profile and content, guarantee a good connection with the potential field of work of graduates. This is a European requirement for accreditation. Because the labor market is so dynamic, regular coordination with the field of practice is important. The faculty finds this coordination in the Advisory Boards

Faculty Advisory Board

The Faculty Advisory Board advises the Faculty Board on central and strategic themes and advises the cluster boards on various themes, including the employability of students.

Advisory Boards for the Programmes

The Advisory Boards for the programmes advise the programmes on the alignment of their courses with the labor market (including profile, learning outcomes, cohesion and promotion of the courses). Each council has at least 8 members (two students, two staff members, two alumni and two employers). The Advisory Boards form a structural collaboration with the professional field, and board members are often very willing to devote themselves to guest lectures, advice and collaboration. Staff members can also use their expertise and involvement as non-members. Where possible, a member of each Advisory Board has a seat on the Faculty Advisory Board.

Each Advisory Board meets at least once a year. The Advisory Boards are organized by contact persons of the relevant programmes.

Example of a recommendation

An example of a recommendation is the initiative of employers from an Advisory Board to have lecturers from the Communication and Information Sciences programme give a series of lectures to communication professionals within the university itself.
