Prof Sobecki appointed new co-editor Studies in the Age of Chaucer (SAC) Journal

Sebastian Sobecki (University of Groningen) and Michelle Karnes (University of Notre Dame) will be the new editors of the journal Studies in the Age of Chaucer (SAC), the official periodical of the New Chaucer Society.

SAC , which is published by University of Notre Dame Press, is the leading journal for medieval English literature. The Scimago journal rankings place SAC first in medieval English literature, second in medieval literature, and in the top 15 for English literature. Between 2019 and 2024, SAC will be based at Groningen and at Notre Dame, and each year they will be looking for a Studies in the Age of Chaucer Research Assistant at Groningen.

Sebastian Sobecki is Professor of Medieval English Literature and Culture at Groningen University. His first book, The Sea and Medieval English Literature (Brewer), appeared in 2008, and his second monograph, Unwritten Verities: The Making of England’s Vernacular Legal Culture, 1463-1549 (Notre Dame UP) in 2015. He is working on The Material Politics of England’s Fifteenth-Century Literature (OUP) and completing two volumes of a new edition of Hakluyt’s Principal Navigations (OUP), besides co-editing three books: Medieval English Travel (OUP), with Anthony Bale; A Companion to John Skelton (Brewer), with John Scattergood; and, with Candace Barrington, The Cambridge Companion to Medieval Law and Literature. His articles have appeared in Speculum, ELH, Studies in the Age of Chaucer, Renaissance Studies, The English Historical Review, The Chaucer Review, The Library, New Medieval Literatures, and The Review of English Studies, among others.
