|Where:||Heymanszaal, Academy Building (Broerstraat 5)|
What is the value of culture? What empirical evidence can be given for the idea that cultural participation contributes to your and my mental and physical well-being, to social cohesion, or to economic growth? On June 19th Pascal Gielen will present a research report concerning 'the value of culture' that he wrote together with four colleagues, as commissioned by the Flanders government. For more information on the report.
This discussion will be the starting point of the series Lively Humanities. With this series we want to investigate and promote the role of the Humanities in an inspiring and stimulating way.
Some of the guest lectures and activities will be in Dutch, others will be in English. Suggestions for activities and speakers (as well as for a better name) are welcome!
All are heartily invited to come.
On behalf of the three Research Institutes,
Petra Hendriks (CLCG)
Peter Attema (GIA)
Liesbeth Korthals Altes (ICOG)
