Honours College Pedagogical Sciences
Within Pedagogical Sciences, ambitious and talented students have the opportunity to take part in The Honours College. This is a two-year programme that is followed in addition to the regular Bachelor’s programme. The emphasis is on greater depth (broadening module) and breadth (deepening module).
The deepening module is organised by Pedagogical Sciences. The focus is on the link between science and the educational and pedagogical practice. Students enrolled in the programme follow a course and participate in an internship: either in a research group at the university or in an institution / organization in the work field.
Practice internship and research internship
Within the “Excellence programme aimed at a profession” one or two honours students are linked to a professional. Students participate, on average 1 day a week, in the organization/ institution in the work field with which the professional is connected, and thus get acquainted with the various aspects of the work field of Special Education and Educational Sciences. Preferably, they participate in the activities that the organization develops around evidence-based interventions.
Relevance to daily practice
In the first place, it can be of added value to an institution, organization, or research group to have an intern. The student can perform various research tasks that the professional/researcher has little time for but are essential. In the second place, it might be interesting for the work field to accompany an excellent student and to get in contact with potential employees at an early stage.
