Cancelled: Opening of the Social Sciences Centre for Health and Well-being
Do you have insight into all the health and well-being related research that is done within our faculty – and the colleagues doing this work? Are you interested in exchanging knowledge, discussing emerging topics and getting to know new colleagues in this domain? Then the new Social Sciences Center for Health and Well-being may be something for you!
On March 26th (15.15-17.00), the Faculty of Behavioral and Social Sciences will open its new center which will be the faculty’s branch of the Aletta Jacobs School of Public Health (see https://www.rug.nl/aletta/) and will represent all BSS researchers within Aletta. The opening will take place at the Bovenkamer (http://www.debovenkamervangroningen.nl/). Our dean will officially open the center.
In only 5 min each, 6 BSS colleagues will present their health research in flash talks to jump start our conversation!
The aim of the center is to bring together researchers within our faculty working on health and well-being related topics. The center will be built around 3 different themes: Health in social context, Healthy Ageing and Health Interventions. The center will organize lunch meetings (approximately 4 times a year) in which we touch on discussions (theoretical, methodological, applied) that are central in the Social Sciences. The center will also continue and broaden the work of the BSS Healthy Ageing initiative by organizing a yearly symposium (formerly Symposium on Healthy Ageing: Perspectives from the Behavioural and Social Sciences) and Healthy Ageing colloquia (about 3 times a year). An additional goal is to showcase to the outside world our faculty's contribution to research in the area of Health and Well-being.
Come join us for the opening and give input into the setup of the Center! The dean will officially open the center and there will be 6 short talks by staff members representing the three different themes: Health in social context, Healthy ageing, and Health Interventions.
