University Minor Entrepreneurship

Ambitious and intensive minor programme in English for all bachelor students (incl. exchange students) of the University of Groningen who:

  • Want to learn what entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial skills are
  • Have passed their first year
  • Do not study at the Faculty of Economics and Business or Industrial Engineering and Management at the Faculty of Science and Engineering
  • This minor is a complete 30 ECTS package. Students can only follow the full package (30 ECTS). I.e. students cannot follow a few courses for 25, 20, 15, 10 or even 5 credits

Why choose this minor?

In today’s modern society, entrepreneurship is essential to all academic disciplines. Whether you want to start your own business or work in an existing profit or non-profit organisation, you need to be able to recognise opportunities.

This minor is the right choice for you if you want to acquire knowledge, skills and attitudes that are necessary to successfully recognise and realise opportunities in the context of your major. You learn what entrepreneurship is and what entrepreneurial skills are. You also work together with students from different academic backgrounds. And you get to develop your own business idea which you will pitch to an expert jury.

'Not just a good idea or money will lead to success. You will need a clear goal and be prepared to fall and rise. That is what I learned from this minor.' - Lotte Zomer, student Pedagogical Sciences

What does the programme look like?

The minor Entrepreneurship is taught by experts from the Faculty of Economics and Business. The programme consists of a package of five courses of 30 ECTS in total.

During the minor, you will develop an empirically well-founded solution to a practical business development challenge, together with the students of the (faculty) minor Innovation & Entrepreneurship . Hence: you will work in multidisciplinary project groups. The source of your group's business development challenge could be your own entrepreneurial idea, but also an opportunity, delivered by an existing company.
