Course and exam enrolment

What you need to do in short:

  • Before the course unit begins, complete the compulsory registration for course units via ProgRESS (including your thesis), and you will be automatically registered for the exam. If you did not pass the course after taking the exam, then you will be automatically enrolled for the resit.
  • Check and/or update your registration for the exam(s) in week 5 of the block

NB: Other faculties (i.e. not FEB) possibly have other registration periods and other procedures.

A. Before every block

You must register for every course unit via ProgRESS (this includes your thesis, which also counts as a course unit). You can enroll for a maximum of 4 courses per block. If you wish to take more than 4 courses, please ask permission from your programme coordinator. Next you visit the Student Support Desk with the proof of permission (for example an email). The Student Support Desk will enroll you for the course units in question. If you are registered for two bachelor or master programmes at the Faculty Economics and Business, you do not need to ask for permission from the programme coordinator. You can visit the Student Student Desk straight away.
NB: New students can also still register during the Faculty introduction activities in August/September.

How to enrol? See this video: Enrolling in courses and checking exam results.

Registration before the deadline

The deadline for registering is 1 week before the block starts. You will only be guaranteed a place on the course unit if you register before the deadline.

Registration after the deadline

Limited possibilities up until 1 week after the block starts : If you register after the deadline, you will not be guaranteed a place on the course unit. There are, however, limited possibilities up until 1 week after the block starts:

  • If a course enrolment is not closed after the deadline has passed, you can register via ProgRESS until the course enrolment closes or until 1 week after the block starts. You will be granted access to the course unit in Student Portal and you will be registered for the exam.
  • If a course enrolment is closed after the deadline has passed, you need to register for the exam in week 5 when ProgRESS re-opens for checking all your exam registrations. If a lecturer agrees, he/she can add you to Student Portal, thereby giving you access to information on the course unit.

Once the first week of the block has finished, you will not be permitted to register for course units. Depending on the course unit concerned, you may be allowed to take the course unit in the next semester or academic year.

B. In week 5 of the block

In this week, you should check and/or update your exam registrations in ProgRESS.

You are personally responsible for doing this. After this week, you will be not be able to change anything and will have to comply with the official Board of Examiners procedure. If you do not register via
ProgRESS, you will not receive a mark, even if you take an exam.

Avoid problems and follow the checklist for week 5:

  • Check whether the list of exams and resits in ProgRESS is correct:
You will see a list of the exams you may take. These are the exams for which the Faculty has registered you automatically, and which you are entitled to take. You may not take any exams if you do not fulfil the admission criteria. You will receive an e-mail informing you about which exams you are and are not registered for.
  • Manage your registrations:
Add any exams you want to take, or delete the exams you do not intend to take. Registration in ProgRESS is possible during the whole of week 5 of the block:
    Add exams:
You can now register for exams or resits for course units for which you were not registered. You must obviously fulfil the admission criteria for the course unit concerned. You will be given automatic access to that course unit in Student Portal.
Students who do not study a degree programme at FEB and who did not enrol for the course in ProgressWWW have to register at the FEB Student Supportdesk to enrol for the exam.
    Delete exams:
You must delete any exams you do not intend to take. If you delete an exam enrolment, you can still take the resit.Make sure you enroll for the resit.
  • Print-out of exam registration:
Make sure that you make a print-out of your exam registration. You will need this as proof at the exam session that you have registered for the exam . You will also be asked to produce your student card.
  • Check exam regulations:
Make sure you know your rights and obligations in relation to exams and resits. You find all regulations here.

C. After the regular exams: registering for resits

The following applies to Semester 1A:
The Faculty will automatically register you for the resit of a particular course unit if you registered for its regular exam but did not pass it.
No resits are officially scheduled for this period. If a course unit in Semester 1A is concluded with a resit, students will be registered for this resit in consultation with the lecturer. In order to qualify for the 'cum laude' predicate you may not have taken any resits (see OER).

The following applies to Semester 1B:
The Faculty will automatically register you for the resit of a particular course unit if you registered for its regular exam but did not pass it.
If you passed the course unit but you still want to take the resit, you must register for it yourself in week 5 (‘enrolment check week’) of the block. In order to qualify for the 'cum laude' predicate you may not have taken any resits (see OER).

The following applies to Semester 2A:
The Faculty will automatically register you for the resit of a particular course unit if you registered for its regular exam but did not pass it.
If you passed the course unit but you still want to take the resit, you must register for it yourself in week 5 (‘enrolment check week’) of the block. In order to qualify for the 'cum laude' predicate you may not have taken any resits (see OER).

The following applies to Semester 2B:
The Faculty will automatically register you for the resit of a particular course unit if you registered for its regular exam but did not pass it. The results need to be registered in Progress on time.

You can check whether you have indeed been registered from 7 days before the date of the resit. You can also register for the resit yourself between 7 and 3 days before the date of the resit. This also applies to students who have passed the course unit but still want to take the resit. In order to qualify for the 'cum laude' predicate you may not have taken any resits (see OER).

If you have any further questions, please come to the Student Support Desk in plenty of time.
