Our summer schools around the world
Unfortunately, as we currently do not know how the coronavirus will progress globally in the coming months, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the University of Groningen Summer Schools 2020. We apologize for any inconvenience this exceptional situation may cause. Hopefully we will see you next year instead. Stay safe and healthy!
In this summer school we take a stance on the contentions issues of development in the 21st century by searching for a holistic way to comprehend different societies in the globe.
This summer school, taking place in Cape Town, South Africa, will discuss the major developments regarding research on financial inclusion. It will shed light on how financial inclusion can induce sustainable growth, with explicit attention to African countries.
We will focus on the local perspective, corporate social responsibility (CSR) and ecnomics of mining in Tanzania. We will have lectures and field visits, and will advise local parties.
The summer school will consider the particular situation that Eastern European countries have found themselves in after the end of the Cold War and the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
This summer school will focus on building capabilities and business strategies for Smart Cities, focussing on Angola, where food, housing, transport, health & safety require a sound thought process on answering key questions.
The sixth edition of this summer school addresses the tension between the materiality of sources and their digitization. We study the history and practice of collections and collecting, digitization and its challenges.
We will discuss how issues around youth, education and work play a role in (post-) conflict areas, especially in Colombia.
