The term “PhD” comes from the Latin Philosophiae doctor, or doctor in philosophy. A PhD is awarded to those who contribute to an area of knowledge through their own original research.
The original meaning of “philosophy” actually is “love of wisdom”. It's why we’re all here, doing research. PhDs are curious, hard-working, over-achieving people, from incredibly different backgrounds, who fall on a daily basis in love with knowledge.
But we’re also so much more.
Welcome to #GroningenPhDLife! These Blogs are here to talk about the “much more”. They’re here for PhDs of Groningen to write about their life, how they see the world, how they view their job, what challenges and rewards they’ve gained, how they spend their free time, and any other little or large thing which is meaningful and impactful in their lives. It is about the humans behind the scientists.
