My Future Career: Be, Want, Can (BWC) is a training open for 3rd year PhD students and for everyone who faces the difficulty of making an informed choice for the next step in their career. The training is designed by experts of the University of Groningen Human Resources department in collaboration with the Groningen Graduate Schools. It aims to make PhD students become aware of their personal interests and competencies and how these can lead them to making a dedicated choice for either a career inside or outside academia. The training is divided in three parts, that are intertwined, so you need to be present every day. Every session needs approximately two hours preparatory work.

  • Day 1 all day: how to describe yourself and your talents to others - about criteria that are important to you. Includes a test and feedback.
  • Day 2 morning: what makes you tick - how to make choices.
  • Day 3 morning:  what are your career goals - how to present these.
