Richard Mayer's Multimedia Principles
The effectiveness of knowledge clips can be increased if the results of research by Richard Mayer, among others, are taken into account. Mayer is a professor of Psychology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. In 2001 he published his Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning. In it he formulated 12 principles that, when applied, will increase the effectiveness of video. The principles, by the way, are also useful when creating Powerpoint / Prezi or other slides. Below you will find various sources about the multimedia principles.
1. A video produced by Maastricht University.
2. A description of the twelve principles and a brief reflection on the website Instructional Design.
3. A number of slides from the University of Groningen (Tracy Poelzer). Each of the principles is explained on the basis of a short video embedded in the slides.
4. The principles shown in a handy, well-arranged table to print and have at hand. This pdf was inspired by a similar resource from Learninghouse.com.
