Dose conversion coefficient

The quantity dose conversion coefficient (e(50)) (in Sv·Bq-1) makes it possible to convert becquerel (Bq) to sievert (Sv) in the case of irradiation by internal activity (A):

E(50) = e(50) × A

Here, E(50) is the committed effective dose (in Sv) due to the intake of activity A (in Bq). The dose conversion coefficient is the inverse of the radiotoxicity equivalent (Re):

e(50) (Sv·Bq-1) = 1 (Sv) / 1 Re

The value of the dose conversion coefficient strongly depends on the nuclide, the chemical properties of the radioactive substance, and the method of intake.
