Margriet Koopman is a personnel administrator at Human Resources.
As a student of Personnel and Labour at the Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen, in 2008 I went looking for an interesting traineeship – and found it at the Faculty of Economics and Business, where I was appointed as a trainee advisor.
One of the things my traineeship involved was personnel administration. I soon found out that this was my favourite part of the job, so I was thrilled when I was offered a permanent appointment as personnel administrator.
The University of Groningen is a large organization that enables its staff to develop. I have already worked at several faculties, each with its very own culture, which makes working for the University very variable and interesting. The University itself also keeps developing. For example, the Human Resources department was reorganized in 2010. All personnel administrators for the whole University are now housed in the Academy Building, which requires a new way of working. It is this type of development that makes the University of Groningen an interesting employer. You are always challenged to make positive contributions to developments within the organization.
