Jan Albert van Laar (Philosophy)
Middle Ground is a method I devised that enables students (from high school to university) to engage in a deliberation that aims at a reasonable compromise solution to a social or political controversy. The method promotes argumentative and civic skills that are highly cooperative, and only mildly competitive. My FIT-project adds to this method by incorporating an online platform or app that supports and facilitates the participants to more easily keep track of policy options, motivating considerations and justifying reasons, in a way that makes this exercise in slow politics even more fun.
