Contemplative education innovations based on research on monastic debate

A recent trend in higher education is to use contemplative techniques such as mindfulness to enhance learning. Research (including my own) has shown that these contemplative techniques can enhance learning and attention. Interesting, no research has been done on the contemplative techniques used in institutes for higher education in Buddhist philosophy in India. We will investigate the effects of monastic debate and analytical meditation on memory, attention and social connectedness. We will then experiment with applying these in the higher education classroom.
