Just like previous months the strategic plan (work plan) for the coming years was discussed. The University Council has put forward a number of points and the Board has promised to process these. On that condition the University Council has agreed to the work plan. This plan, as soon as it is finalised, will be posted on My University.
Yantai: Memorandum of Understanding
The Memorandum of Understanding between the RUG and the China Agricultural University (CAU) is discussed confidentially.
For the first time the University Council has the right of consent in respect of the outline of the budget. These are non-allocated cost items of over k€ 500 (and over M€ 5 for real estate projects). On other points in the budget the Council has right to prior consultation. The Council has agreed with the Board to discuss the internal allocation model (the allocation formula of general income over the Faculties) in February 2016. At the same time the Board has indicated to be worried about the weakened participation position of support staff in comparison to that of the WP in the UMCG. In addition, it was suggested by the Council how the corporate sector can contribute to the funding of the Honours College, e.g. via internships.
The Council has agreed to the budget of 2016 in outline and it has issued a positive advice on the budget of 2016.
Policy Refugee Students
In a memorandum the Board has produced an overview of all activities engaged in by the RUG to support refugee students and academics. Employees and students are called upon to pass on any suggestions and initiatives to the central co-ordinator, Ineke Jansen.
