University Campus Fryslân (RUG/CF)
The most important agenda point, this month, was the University Campus in Leeuwarden. In the development plan a broad bachelor is offered via the PPPE formula (politics, philosophy, psychology and economics), together with several master programmes and a graduate school.
The Council has asked many critical questions about the plan, in particular on the points of feasibility, concrete details of the programmes, and possible competition with programmes in Groningen. In answer the Board has made a number of undertakings, among others, in summary:
Having taken note of these promises, the Council with a large majority decided to issue a positive advice on the development plan.
Level of college fees
Also for advice there was the proposal for the level of the college fees 2016/2017. A proposal by SOG to make all pre-masters relatively equally expensive was only supported by the Lijst STERK. The Board's proposal subsequently got a positive advice from the majority of the Council.
Language of University Council documents
The Board proposes to summarize, from now on, all University Council documents in an English-language memorandum of no more than 4 pages. This would mean that a number of documents that used to be provided in Dutch will now only be provided in English. On the insistence of the Council the Board will look into the costs of publication of these memorandums in two languages.
