Dr. V.A. Venhorst - Faculty of Spatial Sciences
Viktor Venhorst is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Spatial Sciences. In 2013 he received the Gratama Science Award for his 2012 PhD thesis focussing on the mobility of recent graduates from Dutch universities and universities of applied sciences.
Many students at the Faculty know Venhorst from the course unit that they fear the most and that he manages to pull them through: Statistics. He makes them feel at ease and puts things into perspective. During the first Statistics 2 lecture, he said: ‘I know that you have better things to do in life. Like living it.’ He knows how to explain statistics with enthusiasm, using comprehensible examples. He is also willing to go the extra mile to make sure his students pass and patiently answers every question, before, during and after class. Was your score lower than expected? Venhorst will schedule a meeting to give you all the information you need to do better next time. Even students on other course units, like the second-year field trip, mention having him on speed dial to answer all their questions. He is also on standby for students writing their Bachelor’s theses.
