Dual Career Support

Support for international partners

At Dual Career Support (DCS), we support partners of newly recruited, international employees of the University of Groningen, who have moved with them from abroad for their job at the UG. Please click on the drop down menu for an overview of our services;

Career support

  • Personal intakes and/or follow-up sessions with one of our DCS Job Coaches.
  • A free check of your CV and motivation letter.
  • Support with job applications.
  • Information about applying for work on the Dutch labour market, career events and international job portals.
  • Free registration for workshops and job application training courses.
  • The option to apply as an internal candidate for UG job vacancies (Please note; for non-academic positions, a Dutch language level of C1 is the minimum requirement).

Learning the Dutch language

Our DCS Job coaches will refer you to reliable providers of Dutch language courses, like the UG Language Center.
You can start practicing at home with the help of our free online course Free Introduction to Dutch.

Our partners

Make it in the North (MiitN)
The mission of MiitN is to connect English-speaking job seekers with international-friendly companies in the Northern Netherlands. MiitN offers a broad range of services, like a job portal for non-Dutch speakers, career events and a job hunt advice.

The international Welcome Center North (IWCN)
IWCN supports internationals with all practical matters related to living and working in the Netherlands. IWCN organizes social events, webinars and information sessions.

Register

You can register with DCS via the blue button below if you are the partner of an international UG employee who has relocated to Groningen from abroad in the recent two years. To optimize your chances of finding employment on the Dutch job market, please update your CV with the tips from this document, before uploading it into the registration form.

What you can expect after you register

You will receive;

  • A welcome letter with information about our DCS services.
  • Regular mailings with information about events and activities for internationals.
  • An invitation for an intake meeting with one of our DCS Job Coaches.
  • Invitations to free DCS career workshops.
  • The option to apply as an internal candidate for UG vacancies
    Please note: for non-academic positions, a minimum level of C1 for the Dutch language is required. An internal candidate will only receive preference for a position, if two candidates are equally qualified for the same function and the second candidate is an external applicant.

End of registration with DCS

Your active DCS membership will automatically expire after two years. After your registration period ends, you can use the services of our partner organizations Make it in the North for your career goals or contact the International Welcome Center North for support with practical and social matters.
