How can you contribute?

Four ways to work towards a culture of respect, openness, and inclusion

The programme team invites you to contribute to creating a safe and inclusive work and study environment together. We are happy to facilitate through guidelines, dialogue sessions & focus groups, training courses & e-learning modules, and a dilemma game. Please consider what would best suit you and your needs. Do you have any questions or suggestions? Please contact the programme team at socialsafety@rug.nl.

Guide ‘Just Ask’

How behaviour is perceived depends on the person and the context. Sometimes, you may wonder whether certain behaviour is acceptable. You feel like something is off, but how do you bring it up? Our guide can help.

Dialogue sessions & focus groups

Promoting dialogue about social safety is an important goal of the programme. That is why we organize meetings and sessions that focus on dialogue. These meetings address questions such as how to talk about difficult topics, how to remain open to other perspectives when we disagree, and how to create an environment in which every contribution matters? During these meetings, we slow down intentionally to reflect and discuss what matters most. This is "learning by doing": we practice various Art of Hosting tools and work together on participatory leadership.

We organize the following meetings:

Walk & Talk, Watch & Talk and Do & Talk: these meetings are designed to encourage reflection on what it means to feel like a respected member of the community.

Working conference for students and staff (2026).

Themed meetings.

Focus groups for staff to develop a clear code of conduct.

Dialogue tables provide an opportunity to hear a variety of voices and work together toward a culture of diversity and inclusion.

Check our calendar for more information and to register.

Training courses and e-learning modules

We offer students and staff the opportunity to practice their skills with a diverse range of training courses and e-learning programmes:

Dilemma game for staff

How can you easily start a conversation about difficult or sensitive situations in the workplace? The Dilemma Game can help with this.
