How can you contribute?
We all want to study and work in a pleasant environment. We shape that safe, inclusive study and working environment together. Within our university community, everyone's contribution to this is valuable and indispensable. Consider: How do you set boundaries? What can you do to better understand another person? What four practical ways can you contribute to a pleasant study and work environment?

‘Just ask’
What is perceived as socially safe or unsafe varies from person to person. What is needed for people to feel safe? Having the conversation about difficult situations is important but sometimes easier said than done. ‘Actually, I don't think this situation is OK, but others don't say anything about it.’ How do you check this with another person? How can you address someone's behaviour? Read the tips on Student Portal (for students) and on My University (for staff).
Dialogue sessions & focus groups
How do you discuss difficult topics? How do you respect each other's differences in perspective? How can you work together successfully despite differences of opinion? – By engaging in dialogue. Encouraging and facilitating continuous conversation is one of the common themes of this programme. As a student or employee of the UG, you can participate in these meetings.
Trainings & e-learnings for employees
These trainings and e-learnings provide you, as an employee, with tools to actively strengthen social safety in daily practice. They help you develop skills such as giving feedback, having difficult conversations, and recognising transgressive behaviour. Through awareness and practice, these learning activities will help you contribute to a safe, respectful, and inclusive working environment.
Dilemma game for employees
Engage in a low-threshold conversation about difficult or sensitive situations in the workplace. With this dilemma game - developed by Utrecht University - you stimulate openness, mutual understanding, and sharing of experiences. In this way, you contribute to trust and respect for each other in your team or department.
