Accessibility Week 2025
What does it take to learn effectively when you are in a wheelchair, visually impaired or deaf, sensitive to stimuli or have limited energy? From 6 to 12 October 2025, Accessible Education will be the theme of Accessibility Week.
At the University of Groningen, we will be focusing on this theme in several ways during Accessibility Week.

Physical accessibilty: tips & tops
Where have we made significant progress in terms of accessibility within our UG buildings? And where can we still improve? During Accessibility Week, signs will be placed in various UG buildings. Both in spots where accessibility can be improved as well as spots where improvements have been made.

Podcast: Inclusive learning in practice
Together with the Urban Diversity Network and Studio Spinlink, we are making a podcast about inclusive learning on 6 October. In the podcast, we share inspiring examples of accessible education and learning. Learning happens everywhere. At work, in day care, in the neighbourhood, in volunteer work, in museums, in libraries, and not just in education.
'Nothing about us, without us' is also the credo of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. In the podcast, (almost) all participants have a disability, but above all, they have a great deal of talent. Let's clear the way for everyone to discover their own talents.
Students and professionals from the education sector and the labour market share their success stories, with an emphasis on how they achieve accessibility so that others can learn from them. The podcast is in Dutch.
Ideas for improvement? Let us know!
Do you have any ideas on how we can improve physical or digital accessibility? Or would you like to report something specific? Please let us know via the Information Point Accessibility.
What can you do?
Would you like to know what you can do yourself to create an accessible working environment? Take a look at the brochure with tips for digital accessibility. With a few simple adjustments, such as font type and size, you can already do a lot!
