Generative AI Challenge Lab: Explore, Experiment and Exchange!
What is the Generative AI Challenge Lab?
This isn't a typical professional development course. It's a low-stakes, high-support, challenge-based learning community where you'll:
-
Explore what AI can (and can't) do for your teaching and learning activities
-
Experiment with AI in low-stakes, practical ways
-
Exchange ideas, challenges, and discoveries with colleagues across disciplines
Each month, from February to June, there will be a new challenge to explore and experiment with on the topic of Generative AI in educational activities. In learning communities, we’ll connect, share, celebrate, and build upon the results of the monthly challenges with each other in a fun and social community gathering.
Time Investment
Monthly challenges and corresponding resources will be shared in Brightspace. Approximate time investment is 5 hours per month to work on the challenges. University-wide “AI Cafés” (face-to-face attendance) for sharing will be held in February, April and June; each will be 90 minutes in length. Registration is open until Friday 30 January, 17.00hrs.
Background Knowledge
These challenges will build upon and have a small amount of overlap with the content of the AI for Instructors course. Please join us for either or both of these continuing professional development opportunities, depending on your interests, needs and time availability. Neither is a prerequisite for the other. We do, however, strongly encourage all participants to have completed the self-paced Critical AI Literacy module prior to attending.
Cost
Free to Interested Individuals at the University of Groningen (Target Group: Instructors and Education Professionals). Participants from other Dutch universities in our shared course offer partnership are welcome, space permitting.
