Dijkstra, Dr Jan Kornelis

Jan Kornelis Dijkstra is Associate Professor at the department of Sociology. He studied Sociology at the University of Groningen, where he graduated with honours, and was awarded a PhD in 2007 with a thesis entitled ‘Status and Affection among (pre)adolescents and their Relation with Antisocial and Prosocial Behavior’. Dijkstra's research focuses on adolescents, risk behaviour, status and social networks. He is using the network approach to find out where and when mechanisms of influence and selection come into play in relation to adolescents, group formation and behaviour. In addition, he is also involved in research on dependency relationships within networks and love relationships between adolescents.
