02 July 2018

The results of the NSE 2018 by Studiekeuze123 have been published, and 30.1% of the University of Groningen student population took part. This is somewhat fewer students than last year, but almost 9,000 Groningen students still rated their degree programme. They gave their programme an average mark of 4.03 on a scale of 1 to 5, and the atmosphere on the programme a mark of 4.12.

The students’ (n= 8,964) average rating is significantly higher than in 2017 on several points. The UG’s score is higher than the national average and better than last year on the points lecturers, information, group size, student workload and study facilities in particular.

English

The UG’s score on the questions within the theme of internationalization is somewhat higher than last year. The UG lecturers’ English is also given a higher mark than the national average. However, the students’ marks do show that there is still room for improvement within the theme of internationalization.

The UG students’ satisfaction with career preparation is the same as last year and is unfortunately below the national average. However, the students do believe that the UG has improved when it comes to preparation for placements (by the degree programme).

Method

Students gave their opinion on 17 aspects of studying. Each of these aspects consisted of two or more questions. The UG’s score was between 3.5 and 4 on 11 aspects (including content, skills, study guidance, examinations, lecturers and group size). These are good results. Outliers here included career preparation (3.05), placement experience (4.02) and the size of groups/classes (4.06).
