University of Groningen Promotes Hydrogen Careers at Hydrogen Technology World Expo

31 October 2025

Exciting days in Hamburg! The University of Groningen (UG) along with several regional  partners, joined hundreds of innovators and researchers as an exhibitor at Hydrogen Technology World Expo, Europe’s largest event dedicated to hydrogen technologies, held on October 23–24, 2025.

With more than 20,000 participants, 1,000+ exhibitors, and over 300 expert speakers, the Expo brought together innovators, researchers, and policymakers from across the hydrogen value chain to explore solutions driving Europe’s clean energy transition.

Hydrogen Valley Campus Europe

UG was present as part of the Hydrogen Valley Campus Europe initiative, showcasing how academia, industry, and government can work hand in hand to develop the skills and knowledge needed for a sustainable hydrogen economy. The Groningen Hydrogen Valley, Europe’s first integrated hydrogen ecosystem, was also highlighted as a living example of how innovation, research, and education come together to drive the energy transition.

Green SKHy

We also connected with visitors to discuss careers in hydrogen, and highlight research opportunities, in line with the goals of the Green SKHy project, which is focused on developing educational frameworks and training programs to support the growing hydrogen sector.

It was inspiring to see so much momentum toward a green future and connect with partners who share our commitment to building a skilled workforce for the hydrogen transition.
