S. (Susanne) Scheibe, Prof

Professor of Psychology

Susanne Scheibe is Professor of Lifespan Development and Organizational Behavior at the University of Groningen and chair of the Organizational Psychology Unit. Her research focuses on aging and well-being at work. She is particularly interested in emotional development in adulthood, how emotional changes with age affect people in work environments, and how work can be designed to promote the strengths of each age group. Current projects focus on age differences in workplace affect and short-term responses to daily work events and stressors; links between age, emotional job demands and work performance; and emotion regulation as a resource for older workers to maintain their health and effectiveness at work. Susanne Scheibe is originally from Germany, studied psychology at Humboldt University Berlin and was a researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development and Stanford University. In 2016, she received the prestigious NWO VIDI grant for her research into the emotional benefits of aging at work. She is a partner investigator in the NWO Gravitation project Stress-in-Action and vice chair of the EU COST Action network LeverAge, both launched in 2023.
