Field/Discipline
Expertise
My research interests focus on negative workplace situations (e.g., layoffs) and how they shape behaviors, cognitions, and emotions in individuals and interactions between leaders and followers. I have a special interest in examining how positive outcomes can be fostered in the wake of negative experiences, how individuals cope with these stressful events, and identifying as well as curtailing the potential of negative workplace encounters (e.g., identity threats, legitimacy). In a second research stream, I am focusing on applied quantitative research methods (i.e., mediation analysis, scale-anchors) and engage in providing best-practice recommendations to improve research designs (i.e., causality in mediation analyses) and data collection (i.e., equal-distance in scale anchors). In addition, I focus on work-related factors that promote resilience in leaders and how we can successfully measure resilience in the workplace.
