Habitat Maps (Matthijs vd Geest)

The Eurasian Spoonbill can be found in the Dutch Wadden, where researchers from the RUG are studying the species in the area between the island Schiermonnikoog and Lauwersoog. The Geodienst created a habitat map of this location for Matthijs van der Geest, researcher at the GELIFES institute. Now he can plot the GPS tracks of the birds and his observations on the map and compare the data with the different habitat areas to gain a better insight in the life of these birds.

Collecting Ecological Data (Moniek Gommers)

Landscape architects and spatial planners often have a visual and/or economical focus on plans for an area, but the new masterplan for the Zernike Campus also needs to include an ecological component. To be able to do this and to see what impact the new plan has, suitable maps are necessary. We helped with the creation of these maps by enabling the researchers to make their own maps in the field using our collector app.
