PyMol in the Reality Theatre

PyMol in the Reality Theatre

PyMOL is a Python-enhanced molecular graphics tool. It excels at 3D visualization of proteins, small molecules, density, surfaces, and trajectories. It also includes molecular editing, ray tracing, and movies. Normally, PyMOL runs on desktop machines. As it uses OpenGL for its graphics, we have been able to port it to our Linux visualisation cluster using Chromium.

This way, the application itself runs on the cluster master node, and the multiple render slave nodes (that drive the Reality Theatre) generate a seamless image, in stereo. An excellent way for chemists to show their data to a group of up to 21 people!
