Dr. Maarten Andriessen, M.D.
Maarten Andriessen is advisor of the board of directors on medical affairs at Treant Zorggroep and has hold several managing positions at other health care instances (e.g. UMCG, Scheper Hospital Emmen). Andriessen completed his medical studies at Radboud University Nijmegen and holds a PhD in Internal Medicine from the University of Groningen.
Koen Atema is founder of Launch Café and marketer at YEAH! In 2007, Koen won the national award for Learning Entrepreneurship and was nominated for the European Enterprise Awards in 2010. Koen is mainly concerned with business development; he helps SMEs with their business strategies. Examples of such strategies are: new revenue models, (re)positioning strategies and competitive differentiating strategies.
Wim Biemans is an Associate Professor of Innovation & Marketing at the Faculty of Economics & Business of the University of Groningen. Biemans obtained his PhD on ‘Developing Innovations Within Networks’ at Eindhoven University of Technology and has over 25 years of experience in researching, teaching and consulting about various issues related to B2B marketing and innovation.
Tjitske Dijkstra brings students and young professionals to “the next level” in personal development. In a personal way, Tjitske knows how to create consciousness, rest and relaxation. In that way, young professionals can make the most progress towards becoming their own best and answering questions about their position in life and work. Tjitske holds a BA in Cultural Economics (Erasmus University Rotterdam) and a MA in Literary Studies (University of Leiden) and is founder of buro dijkstra and Scriptiewijzer , which makes her a coach, consultant and entrepreneur all at the same time. The combination of studies is not very common, and that is exactly why she might surprise you as well in reaching your goals.
Prof. Paula Danskin Englis (LinkedIn)
Paula's primary areas are strategy and entrepreneurship. She teaches, researches and consults in the areas of strategy, knowledge intensive entrepreneurship, and knowledge management. She actively works closely with current and former students and other clients to help them start and grow their businesses. She has worked with firms in a number of high tech industries such as online communities that facilitate swapping (paperbackswap.com), web design platforms (dynamix), intelligent software that makes searches more effective (ixreveal & uReka!), pop culture products with global appeal (palisades marketing), dog training & boarding (Shelly's Boarding School for Dogs), gas stations (PetroPlus), photography geared for college student weddings (Izziah), firewood (Premier Firewood), and personal financial management (Telos Financial Management). These are just a few of the firms she has advised through the start-up and/or growth process.
Besides her work at Berry College, she is also affiliated with the Dutch Institute for Knowledge Intensive Entrepreneurship (Nikos) at the University of Twente and the business accelerator VentureLab International.
Prof. Basil G. Englis (LinkedIn)
Dr. Basil G. Englis, Ph.D. is the Richard Edgerton Professor of Marketing and Chair of the Marketing Department in the Campbell School of Business at Berry College. He is also a Research Fellow at NIKOS – The Dutch Institute for the Study of Knowledge-Intensive Entrepreneurship, at the University of Twente, The Netherlands.
Dr. Basil is also a Managing Partner at Mind/Share, Inc., a boutique research firm that provides a full suite of custom research services to its clients including a broad range of qualitative and quantitative methodologies. It has the experience, resources, and the capabilities to design and field methodologically sound consumer research, to collect data following well-established scientific approaches, to analyze and interpret data, to effectively communicate the project’s findings, and to meet project deadlines.
Cees Jan is the entrepreneur of Gro2 Management. GRO2 - ‘Grow Too’ - assists companies with development and implementation of their growth strategies via consultancy and (interim) management services, with an emphasis on general management, strategy, marketing, business development & sales. Previously Cees-Jan worked with BreedofBuilds that focused on (product & process) innovations for Energy, Efficiency & Emission solutions (E3); and Wetering Trade & Services business, focused on identifying growth opportunities in Service, Spare Parts & Glassfiber Reinforced Epoxy (GRE) Piping business.
Assistant prof. at UoG. Having worked as Manager Mergers and Acquisitions at Marktlink and Manager Valuations at PWC, Joris specializes in Corporate Finance, Valuation and Business Analysis, currently investigating venture capital fund strategies, financial structuring, team dynamics and network structures.
David Holwerda (LinkedIn)
David is founder by Reconcept • Medicatie-veiligheid.nl • e-Health innovator. Reconcept has a mission to change the world of healthcare IT by filling the gap between technology and healthcare professionals. Within this mission they provide healthcare professionals of hospitals with innovative e-health and m-health applications. Medicatie-veiligheid.nl is a web-based e-learning application that supports health care professionals in enlarging their knowledge in the field of the safe use of medication. At the moment, the system is used by four hospitals in the Netherlands. Since September 2013, medicatie-veiligheid.nl is part of Reconcept.
Niek Huizenga is Founder @ Launch Café, entrepreneur, consultant and trainer. In 2012 he co-founded the award winning startup center Launch Cafe. Located in the city center of Groningen (Netherlands) Launch Cafe supports over 30 innovative startups. Launch Cafe offers excellent facilities, organises network events, provides training programs and runs a pre seed investment fund. As an independent professional he offers services in Consultancy for startups and existing companies (Business model, Market strategy, Business operations, Company valuation, Investment) and his current clients include Tvilight BV, Ytec Medical BV, Chordify BV; and Training and coaching for students and entrepreneurs in Business strategy, Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Investment. He works together with University of Groningen (Netherlands), Hanzehogeschool Groningen (Netherlands), North West University (South Africa), Bake for Life College (Uganda), University of Parakou (Benin), Tanzanian Public Service College (Tanzania).
Dr. Eelko Huizingh
Eelko Huizingh’s interests focus on the intersection of innovation & entrepreneurship, marketing and information technology. His consulting activities include support of companies in their strategy, e-commerce and innovation efforts. Recent projects involved Menzis and Interzorg. He is also an experienced academic research and writing skills trainer and Director of Huizingh Academic Development. Huizingh is Vice President of Scientific Affairs of ISPIM (International Society for Professional Innovation Management). ISPIM is the leading innovation management association in Europe with over 5,000 (associate) members. His duties include Head of the Scientific Panel, for reviewing conference submissions, and Head of the ISPIM-Wiley Innovation Management Dissertation Award Panel, for selecting the best PhD thesis in innovation management. He was a Visiting Professor at the University of Otago, New Zealand (2005, 2003), and at Penn State University, USA (2000).
Marie-Louise Kok (LinkedIn)
Marie-Louise develops innovative solutions around new IT products and solutions using the Lean Startup method. She has experienced roles of agile coach, founder, team leader and concept/product owner. Her process expertise spans a broad spectrum of topics from customer discovery and validation, prototype development and creation, to business development, launch and marketing. The last 4 years she has been busy in the area of (e-)learning, setting up a.o. the company Ucourse.nl for online learning. She also acts as adviser on new digital products and services for learning.
Hoang Nguyen works at Career Services as a trainer and a career advisor for students and faculties. During his study, he came in contact with entrepreneurship. During his study, he built up two companies Cong Company (food business) and Beren op de Weg (Consulting Bureau sustainable employability). His main quality is developing innovative concepts; connecting people and ideas with each other and to create awareness among students, employees and employers by giving them insight in their own qualities and believes. At Career Services he coaches and train students to enhance and empower the employability of students, to get them prepared for the labor market as an employee or as an entrepreneur.
Arnoud Punt is founder of Aecius legal advice, which helps entrepreneurs to solve and to prevent legal problems. Aecius legal advice is focusing on all legal aspects with respect to controlling a business and offers advice in the areas of corporate law, (ICT) contract law and labor law. Furthermore, Aecius legal advice also works together with the Hanze University Groningen and various other ICT companies and knowledge-intensive companies.
Matthijs Smit is the Community Manager of the Launch Café in Groningen. Previously in 2014 and 2015, Smit built an E-democracy company for the Netherlands (Wiekiesjij) from a minimum viable product to market leader in digital elections and developed a participation-app (connecting employees with employers and the works council). Smit holds a Master's degree in International and European Law from the University of Groningen.
Tom is currently leading a few different startups - he is encouraging people in healthy lifestyle through FitGaaf! And at the same time, improving B2C parcel delivery with startup Dubistr. He is also a freelance consultant and public speaker on innovation management. In the past Tom worked as Project leader in Internet Logistics at Rijksuniversiteit Groningen: for Dinalog R&D project 'Cross-Chain order fulfillment coordination for internet sales'. His specialties include Management, Innovation, Creativity, Fitness/Spinning
Frank Streefland is a lecturer of Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management and is the coordinator of the minor Innovation & Entrepreneurship at the Faculty of Economics and Business. In addition, Streefland is owner of Streefland Advies, providing consulting in such areas as management, innovation and entrepreneurship for diverse types of organizations.
Bob holds a PhD in Entrepreneurial Studies and also holds a BA in Molecular Science. He has a lot of experience with teaching entrepreneurship. He teached courses like Technology Program Management and Project Management at the University of New Mexico.
René van der Horst
Rene is the main fighitng force at mijnBezwaarEnBeroep.nl providing juridical advice to individuals and SMEs. He is also a coach at VentureLab International North, helping ambitious startups bring their ideas to the next level.
Rene about himself: Deskundige en toegankelijke juridische hulp voor iedereen. Daar is waar ik voor sta en dat is waar ik voor ga. Vanuit de passie om de underdog bij te staan heb ik mij gespecialiseerd in juridische hulp tegen bestuursorganen zoals bijvoorbeeld UWV, Belastingdienst, gemeenten, etc. Zowel tijdens de bezwaarfase (bij het bestuursorgaan zelf) als tijdens de beroepsfase (bij de rechtbank) sta ik naast je en zorg ik ervoor dat je krijgt waar je recht op hebt.
Sophie Van Dijk
After graduating Law School in the Netherlands, Sophie has supported Johan van Dijk in the development of the first prototypes of the Gum Irrigator. While working on the Gum Irrigator she got accepted to the Japan Prizewinners program in Tokyo Japan after which she started her commercial career with Shell. After ten years of corporate life in commercial roles, working in several challenging countries leading new business development opportunities, Sophie joined the INSEAD executive MBA program. During this program she took the opportunity to further develop her passion for entrepreneurship. In addition, it was the perfect timing to continue with the commercial development of the Gum Irrigator considering the conducted clinical study and considering that her father Johan van Dijk had retired.
Jürgen is an innovator in e-health and e-learning applications. He likes dreaming big and working passionately on user-friendly solutions that shape the way IT is used in hospitals. He has extensive experience as an IT entrepreneur in the medical area, and having had basic medical training, he is able to connect the two fields in a unique way.
As one of the founders of Reconcept, Jürgen help hospitals and medical professionals by developing concepts that improve their day to day workflow. Jürgen is currently responsible for consultancy and project management. Jürgen holds a BA in Computer Science
Rachel is now a Life Skills Trainer at NeuroRestorative and Communication coach at VentureLab International North. She has previously worked in Personal Care and is trained in Relational Development Intervention, a treatment program for autism spectrum disorders. Her expertise includes facilitating communication, life skills development, and academic achievement; speech and occupational therapies. She also created and implemented new treatment/therapeutic tools.
Dr. Frits Wijbenga
Frits Wijbenga is the Business Development manager and Financial manager of Business Generator Groningen, which commercializes knowledge generated at the University of Groningen and University Medical Centre Groningen (UMCG) through technology transfer, initiating collaborations with companies and new company creation. Wijbenga holds a PhD in Venture Capital from the University of Groningen and his expertise mainly lies in Strategy, Finance, Business planning, Management consulting and New Business Development
