Blaauw Collection
Professor Adriaan Blaauw has collected dissertations from Groningen and other Dutch astronomy departments for many years now. His collection is being kept in the Kapteyn Institute in room 177 and a digital catalogue has been kept.
My set of astronomical dissertations [...] is the result of my systematically collecting what I received or got donated from about the year 1938, i.e. since I was associated with Groningen or Leiden. For these two institutes the set is fairly complete for most of the 20th century. It includes some of the hard cover copies given me by J.H. Oort (those for which he was the promotor). For Amsterdam the set is much less complete (perhaps about 50%?). For Utrecht even less. For Amsterdam, there was a period when the late Roelof Takens saw to it that I received their dissertations, but this was not systematically continued after his death. For Utrecht it always was a bit haphazard.....
