ICOG visiting research fellow: José-Tomás Velasco Sánchez

19 February 2019
Dr José-Tomás Velasco Sánchez

José-Tomás Velasco Sánchez, doctor in History and Documentation by the University of Salamanca (Spain), will join ICOG as a visiting research fellow from February to July 2019.

Rafael Altamira y Crevea (1866-1961)

During his stay in Groningen, Dr Velasco will be working on his upcoming book on Spanish historian and jurist Rafael Altamira y Crevea (1866-1961), who was a judge at the Permanent Court of International Justice from 1921 to 1940.

Johan Huizinga (1872-1945)

Dr Velasco will further be studying the personal and professional archives of historian Johan Huizinga (1872-1945), as well as the manuscripts and original editions of his main works: The Autumn of the Middle Ages (1919), Erasmus (1924), and Homo Ludens (1938). This will be the start of a historiographical study on Johan Huizinga.

Visiting research fellowship programme

ICOG welcomes applications for visiting research fellowships from academics working in the fields of its five research centres. The duration of visits usually varies from a month to half a year. During this time, visiting research fellows are expected to work on their own research projects (ideally in collaboration with a scholar or an academic team from ICOG) and to participate in the events organised by ICOG.
