Prizes Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities

The Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities (KHMW) announced a call for nominations/applications for several prizes. Nominations can be sent in before 1 January 2018.

• Keetje Hodshon Prijs 2018 : Prize for promising scholars of literature who finished their PhD thesis less than five years ago. Scholars can be nominated by two professors or experts at Dutch universities.
• Dirk Jacob Veegens Prijs 2018 : Prize for promising scholars of economic, social or political history. Scholars can be nominated by two professors or experts at Dutch universities.
• Jan Brouwer Scriptieprijzen 2018 : Prizes for the best MA theses in various fields of the Humanities, Law and Social Sciences. History and Literature are two of these fields. (Former) students can send in their thesis with an recommendation of their supervisor.

About the KHMW

The Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities was established in 1752 by seven distinguished burghers of the city of Haarlem, in the then Republic of the United Provinces of the Netherlands, in order to promote science (in the broadest sense, including the ‘arts’). It is the oldest learned society in the country today and is constituted as a dual body comprising approximately 380 science promoters (known as directors) and about 480 scholars (known as members), drawn from the natural sciences, the humanities and the social sciences.
