Pioneering to Precision: The Evolution of Transplantation
Transplantational Medicine

Welcome to the 2026 Summer School

Transplantation Medicine (SSTx)! This year, our program’s central theme is Pioneering to Precision: The Evolution of Transplantation. If you are a student in the (bio)medical field who is eager to delve into breakthroughs that laid the foundations of transplantations and current advances that are shaping their future, join us for an immersive and inspiring Summer School at the largest transplantation center in the Netherlands. SSTx 2026 offers a comprehensive program that combines informative lectures, engaging surgical workshops, thought-provoking assignments to sharpen your scientific thinking, and a vibrant social program. Through the lens of the past, present, and future, you will examine landmark innovations, contemporary challenges, and emerging technologies that continue to redefine transplantation medicine. Experts from all around the world will come to give lectures within their expertise on the current advances and research within the field of transplantation. This provides you with the unique opportunity to connect with leading clinical and research specialists, while expanding your international network beyond your institution’s borders. For those seeking clinical insights, you will engage in conversations with donors and transplant recipients, gaining a deeper understanding of the profound impact transplantation has on patients’ lives. At this summer school you will also learn more about the technical aspects of solid organ transplantation and transplant immunology. Participants will have the opportunity to carry out a live heart, lung, and kidney machine perfusion, offering hands-on experience to see how technologies are transforming organ preservation and transplantation outcomes. Beyond academics, SSTx 2026 embraces the experience of studying in the Netherlands. Enjoy cycling through the streets of Groningen and Drenthe and partake in a variety of fun social activities! At SSTx 2026, we don’t just explore the future of transplantation medicine; we empower you to shape it. Join us for an unforgettable experience that seamlessly blends education, innovation, and a dedication to advancing transplantations with precision and purpose.
