Application procedure

1) Curriculum vitae

2) Video pitch (minimum 1 minute) explicitly answering the following questions:

  • Why do you want to take part in the SSTx?
  • What traits make you a suitable candidate for the SSTx?
  • What special interest do you have in transplantation medicine?
  • If possible, substantiate your claims with reports of past experience

In case the video file is too big, you can upload it on a google drive and share it with the SSTx e-mail

3) 1 A4-page essay tackling one of the following questions (minimum 500 words, including an introduction, main body, and conclusion). Please include sources if relevant. All essays will undergo plagiarism scanning.

  • From pioneers to protocols: How early breakthroughs shaped modern transplantation medicine.
  • Lessons Learned: The evolution of ethical frameworks in transplantation medicine.
  • Modern Innovations: Advantages and disadvantages of machine perfusion.
  • Future frontiers in transplantation medicine: Choose your own topic exploring future possibilities in transplantation medicine.
Admission documents

The SSTx offers a full scholarship to a highly motivated applicant. Requirements for the scholarship application include an extra A4 motivation letter. In this letter please reason why you think you should receive the scholarship, and mention your special interest in transplantation medicine. Please submit your motivation letter to the SSTx e-mail (summerschooltransplantation@rug.nl) with an e-mail title: [Your name], SSTx 2026 Scholarship Application.

Note: it is only possible to apply for the scholarship before the regular deadline (March 23rd 2026)!

Application procedure

We are looking for highly motivated individuals with a passion for transplantation medicine within both clinical and research fields. The late deadline to apply for our Summer School is the 20th of April 2026. If you would like to apply to attend our Summer School, please press on the link listed below.

Cancellation Policy
  • Participants who cancel more than 6 weeks before the start of the course are liable to pay 15% of the full course fee, unless the Summer School in question decides otherwise.
  • Participants who cancel within 6 weeks before the start of the course are liable to pay the full course fee.
  • Participants who withdraw during the course are liable to pay the full course fee.
