DIDCARE

Screening genes for idiopathic DCM

A collaborative DIDCARE (Dutch Idiopathic Dilated CArdiomyopathy REgistry) project group has been set up to register DCM cases diagnosed in all the university hospitals in the Netherlands. The aim of DIDCARE is find genotype-phenotype correlations in this group of patients.  We have set up mutation analysis for 4 genes which are being screened in all DCM pateints counselled in our clinics. These include the genes LMNA, D -SCG, TrpI and B -MyHC (publication in preparation).

DIDCARE is an initiative of the  Working Group of Hereditary Cardiac Disorders (chair: Prof. A.A.M. Wilde) of the Interuniversity Cardiology Institute of the Netherlands.  Paediatric cardiologists, cardiologists, genticists and clinical geneticists from all the Dutch university hospitals are represented in the group.
