Anja Visser calls for mixed-methods research in Spiritual Care
Anja Visser presented a paper during the symposium “Building Knowledge for Chaplaincy in Healthcare: Future Directions” on 1 February. This symposium was organized by the University for Humanistic Studies, the University Centre for Spiritual Care, and the scientific committee of the Dutch Association for Spiritual Caregivers.
American researcher George Fitchett presented a keynote lecture on the state of the art in research on chaplaincy. Various Dutch researchers supplemented this. In her presentation “Building our case(s) using quantitative research methods” Anja Visser called for more attention to mixed-methods research in chaplaincy, because this approach allows for the complexity of chaplaincy and enhances the possibility of performing comparative and hypothesis-testing research.
