Transferring credits

It is not possible to transfer credits from another programme in the LLB programme International and European Law and as such enter the programme in a higher year. It is however possible to apply for exemptions to compulsory courses. Since the semester abroad is the optional courses-part of the programme, credits can also be brought in from other programmes, provided the courses are law courses and were taken at a research university.
Information/documents needed
To apply for exemptions, you need to be registered as a student in the LLB programme. When applying, you will have to send us the following official information:
-
the name of the course you have taken
-
your transcript of studies to prove you have successfully completed the course
-
the number of credits of that course
-
the course description in full (in English)
-
the literature that was used for the course
-
the level of the course (bachelor or master; taught in which year of the programme)
-
how many hours per week the course took
General rule
Courses need to be similar in:
-
size (number of credits), and,
-
level (research university level), and,
-
content
Keep in mind
Since courses in the LLB programme are taught in English and we teach concepts of law instead of national law courses, it is quite unlikely that you have had a similar course in content at the university/institution from where you are transferring credits from, especially if in another country.
How to apply for the LLB when also applying for exemptions?
You will have to apply for the LLB as a first year student and as such need to meet the admission requirements, participate in the compulsory matching activity and meet the deadline.
Planning and contact
Should your exemption request(s) be successful, this will mean that you will have to make an adjusted planning for your programme. For this, and any other questions you have about the content of the LLB programme, please contact the study advisers at LLB rug.nl.
