Felix Pot has won the prestigious Van der Knaap Dissertation Prize from the Royal Dutch Society of Sciences and Humanities. He receives this award for his research on the perceived accessibility in rural areas, on which he defended in his dissertation in September 2023. This is the first time that a PhD candidate from the University of Groningen has won this prize.

The KHMW Van der Knaap Dissertation Prize for Human Geography and Regional Economy was established in 2009 by the Society from the proceeds of the Van der Knaap Fund, which originated from a donation by Prof. Dr. G.A. van der Knaap to the Society. This encouragement prize is intended for researchers who obtained their PhD no more than three years prior to the year of the award, and rewards original research in the field of human geography and regional economy.

The prize of 10,000 euros is awarded every three years starting from 2010 by the board of the Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities, following advice from a committee specially appointed by the Society. The award ceremony takes place on May 28th.
