Tribute to Linda Steg

This week, the Dutch Research Council (NWO) is putting UG Professor Linda Steg in the spotlight. Steg was awarded the NWO Stevin Prize in 2020, one of the two highest distinctions in Dutch academia, for her pioneering work into environmental psychology. The climate crisis in particular has contributed to the rapid growth in importance of her field.
Due to the coronavirus, the official Stevin Prize award ceremony was unable to take place. The NWO is therefore paying special attention to Steg this week on its website and Twitter account (@NWONieuws) as well as through its newsletter, including videos and an interview. The NWO messages can also be found on the UG’s social media channels.
The Stevin Prize is one of the two highest distinctions in Dutch academia, intended for researchers who have achieved particular success in the area of knowledge utilization for society. Steg has received €2.5 million, to be spent on academic research. She will use the Stevin Prize to integrate knowledge about people’s motivations and behaviours in climate models.
