Compute nodes of the Grid cluster

The new Grid cluster is already in full use since March. At the moment already more than 230.000 jobs have been running on the system. The cluster is used for amongst others astronomy, high energy physics, life sciences, climate research and chemistry. It also serves as an import computing facility for the users of the Target environment.

The cluster consists of the following components:

  • 58 computing nodes, each with 16 cores and 64GB of memory.
  • 5 service nodes for installation and management and running of the Grid services.
  • 4 nodes that will deliver data at 80 Gbit/s to the storage area of Target.

All the nodes are linked together using 10 and 1 Gbit/s Ethernet connections and a central switch.

For more details see Grid cluster on the facilities page.
