Starting the process
If you do not have a definite idea, yet, you can qualify for the position of prospective candidate. After application and registration, you may present your idea or an overall research plan to a research committee of which your promoter is a member. Based on the opinion of this research committee, you can develop your idea into an actual research proposal. If your Ph.D. project seems to become successful, you can continue your doctoral research as an external candidate and officially become a member of the Graduate School. This will happen if you are able to present a detailed and approved research proposal in English and a draft of a first English article or chapter.
As a (prospective) external candidate you are eligible for a facilities arrangement; and you can, for instance, get access to the library or our ICT facilities.
For application and registration you may contact the secretary’s office of the Graduate School of the Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences (050 363 6179)s
