Construction update 26 April: start activities, work on 3rd and 4th floor of the Heymans building staircase
This week the building activities really started with pile driving. Next week the fences around the building site will be completely closed and the work outside will increase. Work is also underway in the Heymans building. In the staircase on the 3rd and 4th floors, the builder will install fire protection measures.
Staircase 3rd and 4th floor Heymansgebouw
Due to modified escape routes, work will take place in the stairwell on the 3rd and 4th floors of the Heymans building in the coming weeks. Among other things, a fire-resistant screen will be installed. Outside, the contractor starts dismantling the window frames of the stairwell to the Heymanswing. The demolition of the fire stairs itself starts after the new escape routes have been finished.
Building fences closed
Due to the closure of the building site (Monday April 29) it is necessary to use the alternative walking routes. Our stewards will also point out these routes to visitors. The back entrance of the Heymans building will remain open till Monday May 6.
Of course, the construction also causes inconvenience. We ask for your understanding. The contractor indicates that some of the work that will be carried out in the coming weeks will be able to cause (limited) noise nuisance. However, it is not yet possible to indicate exactly when this work will take place. The planning will be discussed with the contractor on a weekly basis. As a result, activities that cause nuisance will be announced in advance as much as possible.
If you have any questions about the work, please contact Marleen Iemhoff.
