Research school SOM presented the 2018 Awards for Best Graduate of the Research Master and best PhD Thesis at the PhD Conference last Tuesday. Niels van der Laan won € 1,000 and the title Best Graduate of the Research Master in Economics and Business. Holmer Kok won € 1,500 and the SOM Award for the best PhD research.
Van der Laan (profile: Business Analytics & Econometrics), was honored for his thesis Generalized α-approximations of two-stage mixed-integer recourse models,
supervised by Ward Romeijnders and Ruud Teunter. The runners-up were Bart Claassen and Ruben van Beesten.
