Video: A turning point in globalisation
Why was there a sudden turning point in globalisation in 2011? A new video explains the mystery behind the slow down in global trade compared to economic growth in the wake of the financial crisis.
The research marks groundbreaking work by Marcel Timmer, Bart Los, Gaaitzen de Vries of the Faculty of Economics and Business, and Robert Stehrer of the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies. They discovered that a change in the components of trade and the role of China in the global economy was responsible for the shift. Watch the video to discover how.
