Steffen Eriksen wins Best Practice in Teaching and Learning Award
Steffen Eriksen has won both the public and the jury award for Best Practices in Teaching and Learning at the Faculty of Economics and Business. He received the awards for his innovative forms of teaching that go beyond the regular teaching platforms. Eriksen is an assistant professor at FEB’s department of Economics, Econometrics and Finance. As the winner of the jury award, he will go on to the first central (UG-wide) elections for Best Practices in Teaching and Learning.
Eriksen was nominated along with his colleagues Esha Mendiratta, Paul Buijs and Marijke Lelieveld. The four candidates were nominated through their programmes for their best teaching practices, i.e., the practices that are the most inspiring, relevant and well-considered. At the award ceremony last Tuesday (8 March), the four nominees presented their best practice for the academic year of 2020-2021. The public prize was chosen through votes by the public and a jury consisting of two FEB staff members and two FEB students choose the jury prize winner. Eriksen was honored with both awards as his innovative teaching practices in which he makes use of both a Twitch channel (an interactive livestreaming service) and a YouTube channel is much appreciated by students and staff alike.
Education Festival
The UG-wide prize for Best Practices in Teaching and Learning, for which Eriksen is now a nominee, will be awarded in April, on the last day of the UG Education Festival. As a core event to share ideas and discuss various teaching and learning practices, the festival will be the venue for showcasing best teaching and learning practices. The UG-wide award will involve a parade of best practices in which nominated teams from every faculty will present their best practice.
