Play the EOR game
Ready to put your knowledge and skills to the test?
Want to play a game where you can use mathematics and data analytics to make real decisions? In the BSc Econometrics and Operations Research (EOR) programme, you will play a simulation game in which you run your own company together with teammates and apply theoretical knowledge to tackle challenges that you are likely to encounter in real life.

Apply everything you're learning
The game is about running a brewery, making decisions in teams about the company. We use simulated data and economic theory to make good choices about pricing our products, production of products, and more. We apply everything we’ve been learning, and we get to understand real-world businesses. What I like the most is the competitive aspect. The most challenging part was analyzing the data under time pressure and then agreeing on a team decision.

Freedom to investigate data
The game is a unique feature of the programme. Unlike many regular group assignments, we are given a lot more freedom to investigate the data and make company decisions. This prepares us for projects we may encounter in the working world. The skills you build playing the game are extremely important skills, and I can apply them during my study and later in my career.
The brain behind the idea
With the EOR game, Dr. Daniel Vullings bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. He has designed this simulation to challenge and motivate students, encouraging a deeper understanding of EOR knowledge within a real-world setting.

The EOR game combines elements from different courses and focus areas in the BSc EOR to allow you to practice creatively applying theoretical concepts you learn throughout your studies to a complex problem. In the process, you receive frequent feedback, see how much you learn throughout your studies, and, upon graduation, you are ready to take the lead in tackling real challenges.
