This weekend in Groningen: Party Picks

Welcome to our new students

This week, the university welcomes new Master and international exchange students. Incoming students will have the opportunity to be picked up from Schiphol as part of Movin’ to Groningen, there will be a Welcoming Ceremony for all the new students, and of course, the ESN Introduction Week ( will begin. If you’re arriving: Welcome to Groningen!

Here's what the Welcoming Ceremony looked like last time:

Super Bowl Sunday!

One of the biggest, most impressive, and (even if you are not a fan of American Football) exciting sporting events of the year is happening this weekend: Super Bowl Sunday. It’s something not to miss out on: even the half-time commercials are an event in itself. The best place to watch it in Groningen is undoubtedly De Drie Gezusters, where they have a special Super Bowl event.

Friday Nite Stranger Things Have Happened

Back with the best and biggest jokes since my exam papers this week, the comedy group Stranger Things have Happened have their first show at their new venue, Machinefabriek, on Friday. So, if you need a giggle this weekend, check them out.

Open Day UG
This weekend marks the first University of Groningen Open Day of the year. For interested students: here are some tips on how to make the most of your open day at the UG. If you can’t make it Groningen, why not attend the virtual open day?

That's our picks for this weekend! Let us know what you're doing in the comments and have a great weekend.
