Last week, a friend of mine and I went to Eurosonic. It’s a music festival with up-and-coming bands from all around Europe. In previous years, artists such as Bastille, Dua Lipa, and Hozier have performed. To be honest, I had an absolutely amazing time - even though my exam grades may suffer. My picks were Bad Sounds, Tom Grennan, and Amanda Delara. I have made a Spotify playlist of my favourite artists from the festival - if you are a music lover, check it out!
The Pathe Alternative Cinema (PAC) festival is held multiple times a year and features five arthouse films in a row, well before their premiere date. This Sunday, the PAC festival includes “Goodbye Christopher Robin”, Steven Spielberg's “The Post”, “I, Tonya”, “The Florida Project”, and one of my most anticipated movies of the year: Guillermo del Toro’s “The Shape of Water”.
Want to learn more about classical music? For the first time, the Usva hosts “Opus Usva”. Orchestra conductor David van Roijen talks about two famous composers and their approach to music. Live piano music is featured throughout the evening.
IFFR Film Festival
Starting Wednesday and continuing through the weekend, the Groninger Forum hosts a pocket version of the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR). More than 50 films are being shown, including “Lady Bird” and “The Death of Stalin”.
Unwind before an exam
I have a theory about studying - no good can come from working past 20:00 the evening before an exam. It stresses you out more and harms your chances. Therefore, I always try to do something chill the evening before an exam. Buy into my theory? I recommend going to the cinema; attending a relaxed event (e.g. a comedy jam), or just having a Netflix evening with friends.
Hopefully, you can attend something this weekend to take your mind off exams. From all of us, good luck, and maybe see you in the UB!
